The Squamish Chief is one of Canada's ultimate rock climbing objective. A sacred granite monolith towering 600m/2000feet above the majestic Howe Sound. Andre is a local expert who has guided clients up the Chief for the past 14 years.
The first half of the Chief route climbs the lower angle Apron (easiest at 5.7) which makes for a great warm up and also has the option of a walk off. The upper section ("Buttress Light" 5.9) is broken up nicely with ledges and comfortable belay stances for rests. Because of this the summit is very attainable and not as strenuous as one might think. On the other hand, if exposure and a slightly harder grade is what you want, "Rock On" to the "Buttress" 5.10c may be just the route for you. The view from the top of the Chief is spectacular and a perfect place to reflect on a great day of rock climbing. All equipment is included.
