The treeline on the West Coast is 6500’, and valley elevations are low, making alpine climbing day trips around Whistler and Squamish a challenge. Having said that, there are several excellent options that do not require a huge approach.

BLACKCOMB BUTTRESS

Take the lifts from Whistler to the high alpine via the 7th heaven Chair for a European style alpine climbing day. The Southwest buttress of Blackcomb Peak has excellent rock with incut holds, spectacular views, and a pleasant walk off. Fun moves up to 5.6, a moderate length and spacious ledges makes it an excellent choice for first timers, but even experienced climbers will love it.

Dates: To suit your needs.
Prerequisites: Some basic climbing skills and good fitness.
Cost: $395 based on a 1:1 ratio. Price includes lift ticket.
$475 based on a 2:1 ratio ($237 PP). Price includes lift ticket.
Length: Eight hours from the Whistler village return
Equipment: All equipment can be provided except boots
Note: We will cross the Blackcomb glacier on return to the 7th Heaven Chair

Westcoast Mountain Guides provide 4x4 and dirt bike access to this normally hard to reach area. Mount Habrich has first class 5.10 multi-pitch rock in an alpine setting with the reward of a mountain summit. This is definetly Squamish alpine rock climbing at its best!

Dates: To suit your needs.
Prerequisites: Rockclimbing skills to follow 5.9 and pull on a few pieces or just have a rest and work out the moves with help from our coaching.
Cost: $395 based on a 1:1 ratio. Access costs included.
$495 based on a 2:1 ratio ($247 PP). Access costs included.
Length: Expect up to 10 hours return from the valley.
Equipment: All equipment can be provided.
Note: We have successfully guided Mt. Habrich in the past doubling clients on the dirt bike (in the case of two, we simply made two quick shuttles). The road is blocked off with some large boulders making it impassible by truck. However, is generally in very good condition for a fun motorbike ride.
